Tuesday is for Tesla

Tuesday is for Tesla

The funny thing about all this is Tesla had no patience for those who believed in psychic power and phenomenon. Despite that impatience, he had an almost unsettling belief in extraterrestrial life. Some have even speculated that Tesla’s visions came from alien beings.

From the Dark Side Anthology News

The anthology weighs in at just over 56,000 words, has twenty stories and poems and will be available in a variety of electronic formats on Amazon.com and Smashwords.com for $4.99.

The Commitment Report

I feel a little like Willy Wonka this morning, as I reflect on all I’ve got going on right now. So little to do, so much time. STOP! Strike that. Reverse it…

Podcaturday is Conpsiracilicious

This week’s episode is brimming to the rim with awesome. We talk about all kinds of stuff, like Shutter Island, the Fresh Prince, Santa Claus, aliens on the Fourth of July, time travel and weapons made of bread.

Tuesday is for Tesla

While weak and bed-ridden, someone gave him a few volumes of fiction from across the ocean, among which were some of Mark Twain’s early writings. It was that writing, Tesla would later tell an emotional Twain, that saved his life.

The Wedding is Coming! The Wedding is Coming!

I wanted to take a moment to thank all of our friends out there who have contributed to the wedding fund these last couple months and who offered their excitement and congratulations.

The Commitment Report

Overall, it’s been an awesome and amazing week on the commitment front.

Podcaturday: In Which I Continue Bitching About Charlaine Harris

This week, Podcaturday is back in full swing with some excellent discussion on books, book deals, Stephen King and Charlaine Harris being a cruddy writer with a good idea someone else was better at expanding on. Because hate me if you will, but I LOVE True Blood, and I don’t care what anyone says ‘cos I can’t stomach these terrible books.

The Tao of Beans

Sometimes I really feel like without that part of me, my creativity would lack. Maybe that’s an excuse to go on acting like the brooding, Byronic heroine sitting on the balcony in the dark with a cigarette and a glass of wine.

Squeenage Wisdom: Being Afraid of the Dark

Squeenage Wisdom: Being Afraid of the Dark

Despite being afraid of the dark, I think it’s something she looks forward to as well. I know I do. Being scared, I mean. There’s just something incredibly satisfying about it. It makes me feel innocent again.

Dark Journeys Returns… ‘The Handyman’ Cometh

Dark Journeys Returns… ‘The Handyman’ Cometh

I just finished the second draft for “The Handyman” last night, and will drop a sneak preview of the cover art, but no excerpt yet. The excerpt will drop Wednesday in prep for the story’s release next Friday.

I’d like to build a time machine and go back to attend one of those lectures myself. Maybe I’d pop up to Rhode Island and pick up old Lovecraft and drag him away from his Auntie to see the show.

“The Southern Vampire Mysteries” Still Sort of Suck…

“The Southern Vampire Mysteries” Still Sort of Suck…

Despite having to work at 8 a.m. this morning, I stayed up until 1:30 to watch the ‘True Blood’ season three episode one premier. Today my head feels like someone stuck a corkscrew in it, but it was worth it.

From the Dark Side Anthology Report

From the Dark Side Anthology Report

I’ve been getting some emails asking about progress on the From the Dark Side charity anthology, so I thought I’d give you a little preview of the cover art. As it stands, six stories/poems have been edited and formatted, and I have a bunch more to go, so that is awesome progress. I do not [...]

The Commitment Report

This last week was probably one of the busiest, most productive weeks I’ve had in a long time. Moving forward anxiously with edits, writing and work, I had a lot on my plate in the last seven days, and though there were times I felt too full to keep going, I kept at it and prevailed.

The Tao of Beans

My philosophy for the last twenty years has been “No Regret,” so I know I have to do it.

Podcaturday: The Summer Zen Edition

You may or may not know this, but James and I are leaving for Canada today for a weekish-long visit in Toronto. I have so much crap to do today, it’s not even funny, so I figured why not add more things to my day by doing Podcaturday first thing…

Squeenage Wisdom: Sometimes Life Doesn’t Seem Real

Squeenage Wisdom: Sometimes Life Doesn’t Seem Real

And then she said, “Sometimes when things like that happen to me, it’s like they aren’t real. Like they didn’t really happen, or I was outside of my body watching it happen. Then the next day, I wake up and remember it, and know it was real.”

The Tao of Beans

I’ve been to places you could never begin to imagine in your waking life, but could possibly relate to in your own dreams. I’ve met people, seen things, experienced the untold in ways even I have a hard time understanding while I lie wrapped in the cool comfort of my sheets as the sun rises

Crossing the Streams: Writing Real Life

Crossing the Streams: Writing Real Life

So how far is too far when you’re crossing the streams? Is it safe to insert elements from life, as long as you don’t hurt anyone in the real world?

Tuesday is for Tesla…

Tuesday is for Tesla…

As someone who was never able to wrap her head around mathematical equation, I find it amazing that Tesla was able to perform not just mental math, but integral calculus in his head.

Dark Journeys Blog Tour: A Conversation with Scott Roche

The Dark Journeys Blog Tour has been going strong for the last three weeks, with me popping up on blogs and in podcast feeds all over the Internet. It’s been an awesome journey, and I have had more fun than one girl should have hopping from website to website.

The Tao of Beans

The Tao of Beans

Sometimes I dream in silence. Just actions interpreted upon waking into scenarios with no sound. It’s funny how much sense those dreams make without the endless chatter of voices narrating, explaining, interpreting.

The Commitment Report

After tooling around on the ‘Net all morning and writing up a blog post, I cracked my knuckles and got to work on edits. By one o’clock that afternoon, chapter two was fully edited with an added 400ish words.

Podcaturday: This Week, I Sober Up…

Try as I might, for Acadia, I could not find a “Judd Nelson is a douchebag site.” My apologies.

The TCA Report

The TCA Report

In the last six weeks, some pretty exciting and amazing things have gone down over at TCA. We just welcomed our 99th member yesterday, and though the first week was chock full of new members, it’s tapered down a wee bit, but I think that’s a good thing.

The Tao of Beans

As a person, I’m sort of conflicted about expectation, as I once had a friend long ago who told me, “If you have no expectations, you’ll never be disappointed.”

Happy Birthday, Fellow Gemini, Jeff Kirvin

Happy Birthday, Fellow Gemini, Jeff Kirvin

To my dear friend Jeff, I hope you have an amazing day, even as it’s more than half-over. I hope you had friends, family and loved ones to share your special day with. I also hope there was cake, and that no matter how many candles were embedded in the frosting, you closed your eyes and made a wish. My birthday wish for you is that whatever you wished for today comes rushing into your life with supersonic speed.

The Tao of Beans

The Tao of Beans

I need to respect myself, and reflect on the good I do every single day. I need to acknowledge the time and effort I put in, and appreciate the downtime during which I formulate and explore new ideas. So, that’s what I’m going to do.

Angelo Bell’s ‘Legend of Black Lotus’ Project

You may not know Angelo Bell, but here is a chance for you to find out more about him, and discover why I think this is a project worth investing in.
