Podcaturday: In Which I Continue Bitching About Charlaine Harris

I know, I know. If I hate it so much, why do I keep reading it? Call it morbid curiosity and a sense of idiocy that compels me to torture myself and complain about it. I’m a whiny masochist.

This week, Podcaturday is back in full swing with some excellent discussion on books, book deals, Stephen King and Charlaine Harris being a cruddy writer with a good idea someone else was better at expanding on. Because hate me if you will, but I LOVE True Blood, and I don’t care what anyone says ‘cos I can’t stomach these terrible books. Call us on the Litter Box hotline to tell me how much of a jerky hypocrite I am, and all the different ways you’d like to see me hang for my blasphemy against Charlaine Harris. 206-888-1710

There was some Ouija board talk, and a big scolding from Acadia about how I shouldn’t poke dead people with sticks. :(

Then we went on to talk about the World Cup while James’ roommate, Nikki, and her friend chatter on in the background and I don’t even know what they’re saying.

Most importantly, even more important than my growing anger with The Southern Vampire Mysteries, is Acadia’s very astute tips on how to hold an intelligent conversation. He’s an expert. Listen to him.

As always, Podcaturday comes with yummy delicious linkage…

Acadia Einstein: A close, personal friend of Sookie
James Melzer: Could totally kick Vampire Bill’s Ass
My BFF: is cooler than Tara
Kody Boye: He doesn’t deal V, but he’s playing the role of Lafayette
I was gonna link to your mom this week, but she begged me not to expose her.

And instead of Annoying Orange, here’s Acadia’s fancy pants Picture Perfect Power Point… man, that’s a lot of pees.

Loved the discussion! Even in that Writer’s Digest article, Harris talks about how Alan Ball has taken his own interpretation of the books to really create a series that is more his – that they maintain their “professional distance” while still having a mutual respect for one another. :)
