The Commitment Report

Acadia says I do this every week so I can beat myself up over the long list of things I created for myself to do, but didn’t do. As much as I would like to say he’s right, this week, that’s not the case.
I worked this week. In fact, that is all I did. Since starting my new job, I wanted to make sure my focus didn’t waver so I could get a feel for what would be required of me every week.
Early in the week, I did manage to get two more stories in the Farrago anthology edited and formatted. As it stands, I have two more to go before I send the draft off to Drew Beatty. Since it’s Sunday, and I promised myself no “work” today, I will probably work on Farrago so I can get it into the next round and ready for the big Farrago release date.
I also spent about an hour rewriting a scene from Jack in the Green that got lost when the power went out a few weeks back. The best part… I now never take my battery out just in case that happens again. And when I do unplug from the source, I don’t plug back in until it needs to charge again. At least that way, if the power goes out, I can save quick even if my battery is about to croak.
It’s mid-July and I am still planning to start podcasting Jack in the Green before the end of the month. I’m just not sure when yet. Possibly this week will be the debut, as James and I are planning to head back to up Toronto for a couple weeks. That I’m not looking forward to, but that’s a whole other entry all unto itself.
This week, I have big plans. BIG PLANS! Jack in the Green will be ready to start podcasting, I’ll be sending Farrago on to Drew and I want to do some more work on my vampire short story, The Farm. How much of it will get done? All of it. Because I’m mean to myself, says Acadia, and I don’t seem to be happy unless I’m setting ridiculous tasks for myself. Maybe he is right after all. It wouldn’t be the first time.
As a final note, here’s a report on the first week out for From the Dark Side: A Charity Anthology. We 46 copies total, raising approximately $165 for the Office of Letters and Light. I’m still a little sad that we haven’t managed to sell 100 yet, but we’ll get there. Tell your friends. It’s for a good cause.
