Tao of Beans: Writing for Me Again

This last month has been horrendous. Despite scrambling to find ways to get through everything financially, we’ve worked incredibly hard on other projects in hopes of establishing a means for the future. All that hard work and effort has definitely been worth it, but my creativity has greatly suffered. In fact, I had not written a single creative word since mid-July, and knowing that was really starting to bring me down.
But the good news is, I started a new short story this morning. For the last week I’ve gone to bed every night with the urge to write, write, write! Being exhausted made it hard to act on that impulse, but I’ve spent time before drifting off to sleep rolling through this bed of inspiration anxiously waiting for the chance to start bringing them into fruition.
I wrote about 1400 words so far on this new story. So happy I could cry tears of joy. Maybe I will later. Either way, getting back into the inspirational groove is always a beautiful thing.
It is my life. No matter how hard things get, how frustrating life and the real world seem to be sometimes, my love for the written word always remains a constant. Maybe it falters from time to time–a clear response to real world issues interfering. Maybe I don’t always remember how good it feels–how it could liberate me from the deep funk that sinks into my bones when the real world gets under my skin.
And now, I go back to this story. I bring hope and clarity to the struggling character who spoke up from the dark recesses of my own mind and asked me to share her story with the world.
About the Author:

I’m so happy for you Jenny and I can’t wait to read your story. You are so talented. Yes, it’s difficult to not let personal issues take over, but getting back into the writer’s seat (see I used writer’s instead of driver’s) is just what you need!
My writing ambitions don’t rise to the level you’re talking about, but even my blogging efforts have been similarly affected. Things have been better recently, and getting involved in a blogging community has helped inspire.
Good luck with your new motivation and I hope you remain productive.

We set up a creative community a few months ago called The Creative Alliance for that same reason. Sometimes sharing the creative process can be such a relief and inspiration.
Thanks for your thoughts and for your well wishes!!
Woohoo! Go chickie! I know how hard it’s been to write on a personal level. I’ve been struggling too. I was actually at work yesterday and had an hour to kill before leaving for the afternoon. Since I had to wait for John to pick me up, I figured “Why not write?” So I sat down and started working on the novel I worked on during NaNoWriMo last year. And what do you know, I wrote 1,000 words before he showed up. I wrote another 200 last night. I was so happy that I finally took some time to sit down and flex my creative muscle. I’m planning on doing so again tonight.
Oh yeah, I can’t wait to see what your mind has come up with this time. I’m sure it’s awesome, as always.
