Jack in the Green: An Update

In the last month I’ve gotten a couple emails and messages asking me when Jack in the Green is coming. The truth is, after I sat down and looked at the manuscript I had in hand I wasn’t happy with it. It had taken me about two and a half years to get it to where it was and I still had doubts. After Goblin Market hit Kindle, Nook and other eReader stores, it got a lot of negative feedback that discouraged me a little bit and I didn’t want the same thing to happen with Jack in the Green. I know that not everyone is going to love what I write and honestly I’m fine with that, but in this day when you put a piece of work out there on your own people are ten times more critical than they would be if it had come out through a publisher. I’m okay with that, and it’s driven me to work even harder to make sure Jack in the Green is as close to perfect as possible.
It’s a somewhat different story than Goblin Market, backing off the romantic aspect quite a bit and delving into a whole new territory. It’s slightly closer to YA fantasy than Goblin Market, following a sixteen-year-old male hero, and there’s a part of me that worries that it won’t live up to the expectations of those who liked the first story.
I want it to be right. I know that’s disappointing to some people who are really anxious to find out what happened after Goblin Market ended, but please don’t fret. It is coming. I just want it to be right, to be good enough to feel comfortable handing it over to the masses waiting to either love or hate it. It is coming. Just please bear with me a little while longer.

Understandable and understood. I for one know that your work on the story has been a labor of love. I know I’m waiting for it, and others as well, but I’ll be patient and look forward to when you’re ready.
Just don’t forget that no story can ever be perfect!
