For those of you who have been following my efforts recently, you know I kicked off my own parenting/kids website called Kid Wonderful on August 26th. Thanks to the combined volunteer work of great friends/writers like Nicole Ireland, Patrick Pillars and David Sobkowiak, Kid Wonderful is faring well, growing traffic-wise and gathering a loyal readership.

After losing our jobs just near the end of July, James and I spent a lot of time considering our options. We are building a future together, and one of the many things that brought us together in the first place was how well we worked together as a team. When faced with a hard trial ahead of us at a time when things were starting to look up, we knew we had to combine our awesome power to do something we both loved that would also potentially help us build our future.

Writing is something we love, and combined with networking and meeting new people, we’ve discovered over the last year how much we really enjoy creating online content. We enjoy it even more when we know our efforts and focus is centered around things that matter to us. That was why I started Kid Wonderful. Being a mother, having a family, exploring parenthood… those are some of the most important things in my life, so I wanted to put my passion behind it and share that passion with the world.

When James and I started talking about creating our own connected network of sites months ago, one of the first thoughts we both agreed on was centering a site on entertainment. We both love movies, television and anyone who’s ever listened to Podcaturday, our joint venture with Acadia from Superficial Gallery knows how much we like to talk about entertainment and celebrities. And so was born Pop Army.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out Pop Army yet, I hope you do. Be sure to subscribe to our Twitter Feed and “like” us on Facebook if you hang out there. We’ve got an awesome team of volunteer writers who will be submitting their own thoughts, including our managing editor and dear friend, Nicole Ireland, Chandra Jenkins, Tony Faville, Heather Faville, Patrick Pillars and my Internet BFF, Acadia Einstein.

This is just the beginning. We have big ideas for creating a network of sites under our very own brand: Double J Media, which you may have seen in the past on our short stories for sale. There is great content going up on the sites every day, and before long The Inner Bean will be getting a makeover as well, so stay tuned, and thanks again for sticking by us during this difficult time.

Due to traveling from Canada to PA, there was no episode of Podcaturday last week, but you already knew that. How do I know? Because the weekly dose of insanity is impossible to live without, and you had a nervous breakdown. I talked to your shrink… so much for doctor/patient confidentiality. You should sue. Seriously.

This week, we re-explore the five pictures dealio, endeavor into facebook spamitation, talk about why Google irks me, I get turned into a sour patch kid, I think we found an EVP while editing, and much, much more.

Note, I do not talk about the EVP on Podcaturday. In fact, I actually deleted it, but will upload it as a separate file for your amusement or derision or whatever.

Supposedly, I hexed Acadia on Friday night. My incredibly powerful hex forced him to wake up vomiting at 4 a.m. so he could vomit. The truth is, if I had really hexed him, I would have made him win the lottery so he could buy me an iPad, not vomit. *rolls eyes at Acadia* According to his theory, my hex-power was designed to make him die during Podcaturday so we could boost our ratings and maybe pull in a sponsor. The good news: he didn’t die. The bad news… we don’t have a sponsor.

Anyone who’s listened to Podcaturday knows the three of us watch a lot of TV. So when Acadia’s good friend JW asked us to help him with his latest experiment, we threw on our capes and flew off to save the day. Huzzah!

I’ve been relatively absent this week, so please forgive me for not hanging out more regularly. I’m trying to kick off a new website called KidWonderful.com for parents and families, so please go visit it!

Also: We forgot to do the giveaway this week, but we’ll announce the winner next Podcaturday, so stay tuned!

Now, a word from our sponsors… oh wait, it’s still just us:

Acadia: Works at Warehouse 13
James: Is an X-file
JW: Broke free from the government conspiracy
Tribal Blogs: Where all the cool kids hang out

After the week James and I had, I was so looking forward to Podcaturday, and you can tell because it’s almost 90 minutes long. Apparently, we had a ton to talk about, which you will hear as you tune in… or out…or whatever you do while listening to Podcaturday.

We talked about the patent pending process, our current job situation, True Blood, Haven, cheerleading, this really cool paranormal guy from a few episodes back and whether or not the body has a soul.

So the old saying goes, “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade,” but I’m not thirsty right now. What else should I do?

For those who haven’t been following the situation, my fiance James and I were dealt a pretty cruddy blow yesterday. James was let go from his job and may get called back in 2-3 months, but the operative word in question there is “MAY.” There are no guarantees. While I didn’t lose my job completely, I took a 3/4 pay cut and currently have about 15 more hours per week on my hands than usual.

I want to shake my fist at the world and scream, “WTF?” but I won’t because I’ve been through worse and I have custom-fitted big girl panties to prove it.

YAY! It’s Podcaturday! And this week we talk about all kinds of interesting things, though no cryptozoology or mutated chicken heads appearing on my doorstep or anything like that. We had our special guest, Dr. Nob, but our other special guest did NOT appear. *scowls across the Internet at JW*

We also talk about how we should get a sponsor… like Dentyne or Tribal Blogs or something. Wanna sponsor us? We’ll pimp you out. Also, call the Podcaturday hotline at 206-888-1710 to leave us your thoughts or conversational requests.

So, as much as we love zombies, it’s hard to believe we’ve NEVER talked about them on Podcaturday… insanely hard to believe. So we remedied that little misdemeanor on today’s episode. We also revealed our first big DVD Giveaway winner, but to find out who it was, you gotta listen.

And speaking of DVDs… we’re giving away another DVD this weekend, and this one coincides with the Podcaturday discussion: ZOMBIE STRIPPERS! One of the best b-grade zombie flicks in the universe because it has my favorite porn star (no, it’s not Nicole Ireland,) Jenna Jameson in it. It’s also got Robert Englund and one of the most disgusting zombie battling tactics involving an 8 ball I’ve ever seen. You know what you gotta do to win: comment on any one of our three posts about this week’s Podcaturday, or call the hotline at 206-888-1710.

We’re back with another edition of PODCATURDAY, which rocks and rolls… all day long… sweet Susie. This week’s episode is brimming to the rim with awesome. We talk about all kinds of stuff, like Shutter Island (spoilers if you haven’t seen it yet, so fast forward through that part if you must,) the Fresh Prince, Santa Claus, aliens and the Fourth of July and time travel.

Yesterday was perhaps one of the longest, yet best days I’ve had in a long time. We left Toronto yesterday to head back home to Pennsylvania, plotting our trip early to avoid city traffic. In theory, it was a really good idea, but some doofus left their wallet in Toronto… that doofus was me. We didn’t discover this ridiculous mistake until we drove 90 miles to The Duty Free Shop and went to get breakfast.

Upon discovering this boo-boo we hopped back in the car and drove all the way back to Toronto to get my wallet, then we stopped for gas and hit the road again, this time bumper deep in traffic. We survived, and made it back to the border just before 11 a.m. While sitting there explaining to the very pleasant patrol guard why we were traveling back and forth, we mentioned we were in the process for our K1 fiance visa so James could move to the U.S.
